Black Country ICB are collaborating with a patient charity called Pumping Marvellous, who support people with heart failure, to deliver a "healthy hearts" event in the ICB.
Pumping Marvellous are keen to support the delivery of an event in the Black Country. These healthy hearts events are proving to be incredibly popular and the event in the Black Country will be part of the third round of sponsored health promotion campaigns Pumping Marvellous are delivering across the UK.
The Black Country event take place on Wednesday 24th September and will be delivered at the Portway Lifestyle Centre providing an opportunity to promote health awareness and deliver heart health checks to those who attend; we’ll also be able to promote awareness of heart failure and importantly the BEAT-HF campaign ( BEATHF Campaign | Pumping Marvellous )
On the day, the checks undertaken will include blood pressure, heart rhythm (using a single lead ECG device e.g. Kardia), point of care cholesterol and in symptomatic patients, point of care NT pro BNP. We'll also be supported by heart failure teams from the four acute Trusts (nurses and a Heart Failure consultant) in the ICB and will have on-site echocardiography for those who are found to have increased NT proBNP and signs/symptoms suggestive of heart failure - with the four teams in attendance, we can ensure onward referral for follow-up with the appropriate team if necessary.
